Brief HistoryOur first Yoga camp was conducted for 21 days at P&T Colony in Shivamogga at the request of one of the students of Yogacharya Sri C.V. Rudraradhya. Inspired by the camp, we were requested to conduct camps at various localities in Shivamogga. As more and more people started realizing the benefits of a healthy lifestyle, they desired to practise yoga everyday and the Yogacharya was requested to conduct daily Yoga classes in P&T colony and Vipra Sabha Bhavan. As a result, Sri Shivaganga Yoga Centre was instituted and started Yoga camps in the year 2003.
In 2007, a group of like-minded Yoga aspirants were motivated to establish a centre for yoga activities and registered Sri Shivaganga Yoga Centre as a trust. The main objective was to conduct yogasana, pranayama, dhyana classes along with nature cure, home medicine and counselling all free of cost. Sri Shivaganga Yoga Centre, true to its objective has been providing free services to the society. Further, the centre organizes special lectures by medical experts, spirtual thinkers and counsellors every 15 days. Also, special yoga camps are held for patients suffering from specific health conditions such as arthritis, diabetes, asthama, heart disorders and so on.
Today, we have 22 branches operating at various locations in Shivamogga providing free services to thousands of people in all age groups everyday. We are affliated to Swamy Vivekananda Yoga, Anusandhana Samustana , Jigani, Bengaluru. With the generous contribution of the public of Shivamogga town and with the help of the Government of Karnataka, we constructed Sri Shivaganga Yoga Bhavana in 2011, in Kallahalli, Vinobanagara in a land alloted to us by the housing board.
In collaboration with Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, New Delhi, we instituted Sri Swamy Vivekananda District Yoga Wellness Centre and conducted more than 30 foundational Yoga courses between 2012 and 2014. The course duration was 30 days and more than 800 Yoga aspirants obtained certificates. Every year, we have been conducting special personality development camps for school children during summer vacation. Our activities are being conducted under the leadership of Yogacharya Sri C.V. Rudraradhya who has received National award for Teachers and Rajyotsava award among many accolades for his contribution to the society as a teacher and Yoga exponent who propagated Yoga in and around Shivamogga and elsewhere.
In the coming days, we aspire to start a nature cure unit and to introduce certificate diploma courses and degree courses on Yoga for the benefit of the society.
